The Fact Sheet on the Economic Impact of Gender-Based Violence (GBV) in Namibia highlights the high prevalence of abuse, noting that nearly one in three Namibian women have experienced intimate partner violence. This violence imposes a significant economic burden, costing the country up to 0.3% of its GDP (N$414.6 million) in lost productivity and up to 1.8% of GDP (N$2.6 billion) for public services responding to incidents and caring for survivors. Crucially, a study indicates that a ten-year investment of US$114.5 million in scaling up GBV interventions is projected to avert over 119,000 cases of intimate partner violence.
